Structure I is a piece of musique concrète utilizing recorded sounds from my Time Points for 2 string quartets (1966). The acoustic sounds are submitted to electronic transformations using voltage-control. The result is a continuously evolving texture that constantly seems to "return to itself," and has the appearance of an electronic song circling around itself. The piece is the first composition I made in the Studios of the Institute of Sonology, Utrecht, The Netherlands.
