Structure II is through-composed and dramatic, dense in texture. String sound material is subjected to voltage control functions derived from the material, which thus feeds back upon itself in a crudely algorithmic fashion. On repeated listening, the composition's texture, chaotic perhaps on first listening, reveals a sustained continuity of explosive expression.
A revision made in 2009 introduces an ostinato sound sequence as an irregular contrapuntal force in several sections of the piece. It appears with increasingly frequency and overwhelming force, almost as a sign of fate. In this new form, the piece is unperformed.
